Each candidate must attend three weekend courses. These are titled British Hill Walking Leaders' Certificate Course I, II, and III. They must be completed in sequence and during these three weekends a process of continuous training and assessment will take place. At the end of each weekend course the candidate's log book, which will be provided on BHLC I, will be completed by the Course Tutor. On satisfactorily completing all three weekend courses, a certificate will be awarded. Should a candidate fail to reach the required standard on any component weekend course they may apply to repeat that particular course. The standard required to receive the final certificate is one of total competence in all aspects of the syllabus thereby ensuring that the candidate is capable of leading a hill walking group in Britain in Summer conditions. There is no exemption system. The decision taken regarding the final assessment by the Course Director is final. |
