THE BRITISH HILL WALKING LEADERS CERTIFICATE
has been operational since 1986 and during this time has established itself as a practical means of undertaking training and assessment in hill walking in summer conditions.

Many organisations use this scheme to train and assess leaders to fulfil their legal obligation with regard to Health and Safety requirements. 

The course system allows flexibility to undertake the initial sections purely for personal training and skills learning or alternatively to complete the whole scheme and take part in the final assessment. The choice is yours. There is no time limit and you should be guided by your course tutors..

The scheme now incorporates the NATIONAL NAVIGATION AWARDS .Please note that the format for 2012 will be changed from THREE  weekends to TWO ie a training weekend and an assessment weekend.  The syllabus remains the same but will be delivered over the two weekends.The NNAS award will be credited as follows, Training weekend will be Silver award and Assessment weekend  will be Gold award
