Hill walking British Hillwalking Leaders Certificate

has been operational since 1986 and during this time has established itself as a practical means of undertaking training and assessment in hill walking in summer conditions.

Many organisations use this scheme to train and assess leaders to fulfil their legal obligation with regard to Health and Safety requirements. 

The course system allows flexibility to undertake the initial sections purely for personal training and skills learning or alternatively to complete the whole scheme, the choice is yours. There is no time limit and you should be guided by your course tutors.

The scheme is run over three weekends and incorporates the NATIONAL NAVIGATION AWARDS .

The NNAS awards will be credited as follows:- BHLC 1 (first weekend) will be Bronze award,

BHLC 2 (second weekend) will be Silver award and BHLC 3 (third weekend)  will be the Gold award.

The award is a National Award and is validated by the British Orienteering Federation. If you require any further information or assistance you should contact the office.
